Look, Motherhood is a blessing– depending on how you look at it. I would like to say, motherhood saves me from myself so many times. My son gives me purpose, my husband shows me it’s possible to love and stay. However, being a stay-at-home mum isn’t all rainbows and kumbayas. It’s messy! 1 year into being a new mum and this is what I had to say to all women expecting their first child.
If you are a mum already, you will agree with me– your child’s happiness is dependent on yours. Amirite? Your mental health as a mom should be your first priority. You are obviously not able to wear make-up as much as pre-baby era, but come on, try take a shower at least. Showering first thing in the morning is a good way of putting yourself first. I avoid ‘taking care of others’ as the first thing to do after waking up.
I have also talked about dealing with personal childhood trauma while parenting. Your childhood may have been rough, but your child’s need not.
Part of putting mum first entails having your own little thing going on. Could be a business, a book club or even a blog. Many moms are making money online with their blog. If you have ever wanted to start an income-generating blog, here is your chance.
But Ruth, how can I earn from a blog? Good question. The first thing to do after starting a blog is: Create great search engine optimized content. SEO is the best way to gain organic blog traffic. You will only make money with your blog if people are visiting it. Make their time there worthwhile.
